On Saturday, we dressed the kids in their cold-weather best, packed them up (with a kazillion back-up clothes) in the car, and drove up I-80 to Weimar, just west of Colfax. Jeff's co-worker, Greg, lives in Weimar and invited us up to enjoy the snow from the comfort of his home.
The weather had cleared a bit so we were lucky to make it up the hill uneventfully. No chains required and no back-up. Greg lives in a house on a hill and the hill was covered in thick snow. We met Greg's lovely wife Merja, their sweet dog Thunder, and got a tour of their beautiful art-filled home.
The highlight was watching Eli and Vivi's experience snow for the first time. Eli enjoyed throwing snowballs and sledding down the hill. Vivi just explored. Whenever she fell down, she would say, "Mommy, stuck!!!" (And I think Jeff had just as much fun as the kids.) Eli, of the super sensitive skin, couldn't really handle the snow on his skin for a long time (note to self - buy Eli some heavy-duty snow gloves when they go on sale!) and we had to go inside several times to warm up. This is a kid who would get frostbite VERY easily.
We had a blast and can't wait to take them to the snow again! Thank goodness the snow is not that far away...
